Thai Prime Minister Charnvirakun refused to negotiate with Cambodia
Thailand will no longer have negotiations with Cambodia. This was announced on December 8 by Thai Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anuthin Charnvirakun.
"From now on, there will be no negotiations. To stop the fighting, Cambodia must follow the course set by Thailand," The Nation newspaper quoted him as saying.
The day before, the Khaosod newspaper reported that the Cambodian military opened fire on the Anupong military base in Thailand, killing one Thai soldier and injuring two others. The Thai army has called on residents of the border areas of four provinces located along the border with Cambodia to evacuate to shelters amid the threat of escalating clashes.
