Amur tiger cubs were born in the Moscow Zoo. This was reported on the portal on December 8. mos.ru .

"Two Amur tiger cubs have appeared at the Moscow Zoo's rare species reproduction center," the publication says.

It is specified that the cubs turned out to be a male and a female. According to the Moscow government, the parents of newborns previously lived in nature, so their cubs will be able to make a "valuable contribution" to replenishing the gene pool of the artificial population of this species, which is listed in the Red Book.

It is noted that the cubs were born at the end of August, later, a month later, they weighed 7 kg, and in November they weighed 12 kg. The government also stressed that these are good indicators for their age.

Svetlana Akulova, General Director of the Moscow Zoo, added that the staff checks the health, weight and fatness of the cubs several times during their growing up. In order to gain access to the cubs and minimize stress levels for them, the female is fed in a nearby enclosure at this time. At the same time, such a procedure is carried out very quickly, according to an already worked-out scheme, Akulova added.

In October, a baby monkey named Diana was born at the Moscow Zoo. This animal species lives in the jungles of West Africa and is listed as vulnerable in the Red Book. In addition, it got its name in honor of the Roman goddess of hunting Diana.
