Insurers noted an increase in aircraft incidents on the ground year on year

In Russia, there has been an increase in insurance claims for aircraft damage during repairs and ground handling at airports. This was reported on December 8 by the newspaper Kommersant with reference to AlfaStrakhovanie.

According to the company, seven incidents related to aircraft damage during maintenance were recorded in the first 10 months of 2025. This is one more case than in 2024, and four more than in 2023.

In October, it was reported that Russians increasingly prefer to travel with their family, and are also showing interest in travel insurance. The number of family insurance policies issued has more than doubled, from 161,000 in the summer of 2023 to almost 350,000 in 2025. Medical expenses remain the main risk included in the contract.
