In Benin, a group of military men who attempted a coup and seized the national television building, took its employees hostage, and the Republican Guard surrounded the building. This was reported on December 7 by Actualites229, citing law enforcement sources.

"The Republican Guard is currently knocking them out of the building [of the TV company]. These people (the conspirators) took employees hostage," the publication said in a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Earlier it became known about the military seizure of power in Benin. Later, the office of the President of Benin reported that the head of state was safe, and the army was regaining control of the situation. The Russian Embassy in Benin has advised Russians in the country not to leave their homes.
