The United States noted the EU's purchases of Russian gas in excess of assistance to Ukraine

On December 6, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said that from 2022 to 2024, European countries spent more on buying Russian gas than on helping Ukraine.

"Did you know that the nations of Europe actually sent significantly more money to Russia (to pay for energy supplies. — Ed.) from 2022 to 2024, what did they give Ukraine?"— wrote Landau.
