Anatoly Belyaev, a former Dynamo Minsk hockey player, has died.
Anatoly Belyaev, a former Dynamo Minsk hockey player, died at the age of 74. This was announced on December 2 by the club's press service in the Telegram channel.
The causes of his death have not been disclosed.
The club noted that Belyaev had made a significant contribution to the development of Belarusian hockey. After completing his playing career, he spent many years training young athletes, worked as a team leader, coach of youth and youth national teams, passing on his experience to the younger generation.
"Anatoly Ivanovich will forever remain in the history of the club. The Dynamo Hockey Club grieves and expresses its deepest condolences to his family and friends," the statement said.
According to Sport-Express, Belyaev played for Dinamo Minsk in 1976-1977 and then from 1978 to 1982, scoring 123 goals during that time. In the 1977-1978 season, he played for Dynamo Moscow. From 1983 to 1989, he served as the head of the Minsk Club.
Later, he worked as the general secretary of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation and was a member of the coaching staff of the national team at the 2002 Olympic Games, where the team finished fourth. Belyaev was also awarded the title of Honored Coach of the Republic of Belarus.
