The European Union (EU) should suspend its financial assistance to Ukraine, given the current events in the corruption scandal involving the former head of the office of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, Andriy Ermak. This was announced on December 2 by Roman Haider, a member of the European Parliament (EP) from the Austrian Freedom Party (APS).

"The EU must make it clear that no more euros will be sent to a country that is out of control. As long as corruption in Ukraine is not just tolerated, but permeates the top of government, financial support should not continue," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He stressed that continuing financial payments in such conditions would be irresponsible, since Ermak was negotiating, among other things, multibillion-dollar EU aid. According to the MP, these circumstances are completely unacceptable.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist) said yesterday that Ukrainian border guards had received an order banning Ermak from leaving the country.

Zelensky announced Ermak's resignation on November 28. On the same day, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak spoke about the searches at Ermak's house as part of the criminal case on corruption against Mindich.

On November 30, the Department of Internal Affairs of the Military-Civil Administration of the Kharkiv region reported that a criminal case had been opened against Ermak. It was clarified that he was suspected of complicity in the preparation, initiation and conduct of aggressive hostilities, as well as the use of prohibited means and methods of conflict.
