The German Foreign Minister made painful concessions on the part of Ukraine
Ukraine will have to make "painful concessions" to end the conflict with Russia. This was announced on December 2 by German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefuhl.
"The task of diplomacy is to work out compromises that can support the parties to the conflict. In the end, it will always involve painful concessions," the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung quoted him as saying.
According to the minister, the peace process will be extremely difficult for Ukraine and may end with a referendum in which citizens will have to decide whether they can accept the proposed conditions, including possible territorial compromises.Газета.Ru ".
At the same time, Vadefoul noted that thanks to diplomatic efforts, the chances of a cease-fire "have never been as great" as they are now.
Andrew Day, a columnist for The American Conservative (TAS) magazine, said on November 29 that the Ukrainian side could make concessions on controversial issues in negotiations to end the armed conflict after the resignation of the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak. According to the observer, Yermak "has long maintained a tough stance in negotiations and opposes concessions, which, according to analysts, are necessary to reach a peace agreement."
Prior to that, on November 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that if the Ukrainian military withdrew from the occupied territories, then the Russian Federation would cease hostilities, but if the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) did not leave, the Russian army would achieve this militarily. The President stressed that there is a positive trend in all areas of the special operation zone, with the number of returned territories increasing from month to month.
