The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced Nikolai Agapov, a resident of the Moscow Region, to nine years in prison for preparing to commit a terrorist act using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This was reported on December 2 in the Telegram channel of the Prosecutor's office of the Moscow region.

"In accordance with the position of the state prosecutor of the Moscow Region Prosecutor's Office, the 2nd Western District Military Court has issued a verdict in the criminal case against Nikolai Agapov," the statement said.

He was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code ("Preparation for the commission of a terrorist act") and Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code ("Illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of explosive devices and explosives").

According to the agency, in August 2024, he conducted a reconnaissance of the territory near Vnukovo airport. The man sent pictures to an accomplice taken with a mobile phone.

In addition, in February 2025, Agapov retrieved a UAV equipped with an improvised explosive device from a hiding place in an old cemetery in the Klimovsk microdistrict in order to use it to destroy planes departing from Vnukovo Airport. However, his criminal plan was thwarted on February 24, 2025. He was detained by employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in Moscow and the Moscow region.

"The court sentenced the perpetrator to nine years in prison, of which he will serve the first 3 years in prison, and the subsequent ones in a high-security penal colony, with a fine of 50 thousand rubles, with restriction of liberty for 1 year," the prosecutor's office added.

1 million rubles received from the sale of a car that was used to commit a crime was also collected in state revenue. It is clarified that the verdict has not yet entered into force.

Earlier, on November 27, it was reported that employees of the Russian FSB directorate for the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) had detained a resident of Sverdlovsk suspected of treason. It was noted that a Russian citizen collected and transmitted information about the locations of units of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) to representatives of the Ukrainian special services.
