The death toll from the fire in Hong Kong has reached 156, and search and rescue teams have found the bodies of five more victims. This was reported on December 2 by the South China Morning Post newspaper, citing the metropolitan police.

According to law enforcement officials, 127 people have been identified out of the total number of victims. Some of the bodies were badly burned, and their identification will require additional examinations.

It is noted that an independent committee will be established under the leadership of one of the city's judges to investigate the causes and circumstances of the fire in the residential complex. As stated by the head of the Administration (Government) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) of the People's Republic of China (Hong Kong) John Lee (Li Jiachao), the committee is being formed "to prevent similar tragedies in the future."

A fire in an apartment complex in Hong Kong occurred on November 26. According to the Associated Press, about 700 people were evacuated and placed in temporary accommodation. The death toll reached 128 people.

On November 29, it was reported that the Chinese government would conduct a fire safety check in high-rise buildings after a large-scale fire in Hong Kong.

On November 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping in connection with the fire in Hong Kong. He also asked to convey his condolences and words of support to the families and friends of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured.
