Russian schoolchildren won six medals at the Chinese National Mathematics Olympiad, which was held in Taiyuan. This was announced on November 30 on the official website of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

"Russian schoolchildren won six medals at the Chinese National Mathematics Olympiad: two gold, three silver and one bronze. Congratulations to the guys with a high score! As our President [of Russia] Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin says, it is important that mathematics and natural sciences attract young people," said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

Fyodor Petrov, Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at St. Petersburg State University, became the head of the Russian national team. All the team members had previously become winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian School Olympiad.

Sergey Kravtsov, the Russian Minister of Education, also congratulated the children on their victory. He noted the continuity of the traditions of the national mathematical school and stressed that participation in competitions in China was an important stage in preparation for the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad, which will be held in Shanghai in 2026.

Earlier, on November 15, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that three Moscow schoolchildren won first place at the international RoboCup championship, which was held in Abu Dhabi. According to him, only 13 students from the capital received prizes or were awarded in nominations.
