- The United States has accused NATO and the EU of trying to sabotage Trump's peace plan for Ukraine
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are hindering US President Donald Trump's efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis peacefully with their position on Ukraine. This was announced on November 29 by retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis.
"[Rutte and von der Leyen] have made it clear — there will be no peace, only obstacles," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to the lieutenant colonel, the position of European leaders, who insist that the decision on Ukraine's accession to NATO and the European Union (EU) should be made exclusively between the relevant parties, actually blocks Washington's attempts to contribute to the cessation of hostilities.
Davis also recalled that ensuring Ukraine's neutral status is one of Moscow's key conditions in negotiations with the United States.
Earlier in the day, Bloomberg reported that European states had withdrawn from discussing a significant part of the details of the peace plan negotiations and allowed only a narrow range of discussions.
Also on November 28, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia did not want to publicly discuss the negotiation process on Ukraine. According to him, the nuances of the decisions taken must be determined during the negotiations.
