- The boy, who was lying in the Khobotova rehabilitation center, told about the torture
The boy, who was being treated in Anna Khobotova's rehab near Moscow, told Izvestia on November 29 about the ill-treatment he was subjected to during rehabilitation.
He shared that the first three days at the institution seemed to him "golden" — they sometimes allowed him to eat sweets and go to the consulting room to find out if he could take something. According to the boy, on the sixth day of his stay in rehab, he was reprimanded for being hyperactive and threatened with being placed in a closet, where he was supposed to eat only porridge and drink tea without sugar. He also said that he was told to write the same essay about "insubordination and responsibility" in large numbers. These texts were called "consequences" in rehab.
"I didn't listen, I thought, well, whatever with him. And later, on the ninth day, they made another remark to me. And then I kind of thought that it was probably worth thinking about it," he said, adding that on the 14th day he was really locked in a closet where he could not communicate with other children. He spent a week there. During the time he spent there, the boy hardly ate.
Punishments in the form of "consequences" and staying in a closet have become a regular practice in rehab. The boy also shared that he had seen other children tied to the bed in the star pose until late at night, but he himself had not been subjected to such punishment.
In addition, the boy told about a brutal beating by an adult man. As a result of the impact, he suffered an internal hemorrhage. The boy was dizzy for about two days because of this.
On November 28, the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the Moscow Region reported that the Istra District Court had arrested Anna Khobotova, the organizer of the rehab in Dedovsk, Moscow region, until January 22. A criminal case was opened against her under paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Article 111, paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 117, paragraphs "a, b, e" of Part 2 of Article 127, paragraph "a, c" of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional infliction of serious harm to health by a group of persons", "Torture of minors", "Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements", "Unlawful imprisonment"). At the same time, Khobotova pleaded not guilty in the case of violent acts in the institution. Investigators have already questioned 24 teenagers and their parents, as well as employees of the center. Psychological, psychiatric and forensic medical examinations have been appointed in the case. Khobotov was detained earlier that day and charged under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Prior to that, on November 25, a criminal case was opened in the Moscow suburb of Istra due to the torture and detention of teenagers with various addictions in an illegal rehabilitation center. According to the investigation, psychologists were supposed to work with minors, but teenagers were beaten and tortured. On November 26, the court placed under house arrest until January 22, 2026, an 18-year-old girl who participated in the beating of teenagers in a rehabilitation center.
In turn, a pupil of the center told Izvestia that the staff of the center forced the victims to carry out humiliating tasks and persuaded the girls to have sexual contacts. The injured woman told in detail about one of the girls who was constantly abused by a counselor.
