An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 occurred off the coast of the Kuril Islands
An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 was recorded off the coast of the northern Kuril Islands. This was announced on November 29 by Elena Semenova, head of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station.
According to her, the tremor occurred at 14:34 local time (06:34 Moscow time). The epicenter was located about 209 km south of Severo-Kurilsk on Paramushir Island, the center was located at a depth of about 56 km.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, the seismologist also noted that a tremor of up to two points could be felt in Severo-Kurilsk.
On November 23, an earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred in the Pacific Ocean near the coast of Kamchatka. The epicenter of the tremors was located 315 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The earthquake was located at a depth of 10 km.
