Honored Russian swimming coach Dmitry Shalagin has died at the age of 61.
Honored Russian swimming coach Dmitry Shalagin died at the age of 62. This was announced on November 27 by the press service of the Russian Federation of Water Sports (FVVSR).
"Honored coach of Russia Dmitry Shalagin has passed away," the federation's Telegram channel says.
Dmitry Shalagin was born on June 10, 1963. In 1984, he graduated from the Omsk GIFK. Since 1995, Shalagin became the coach of the national team. He was also the senior coach of the Sverdlovsk Region national swimming team.
Among the coach's students are Anastasia Kirpichnikova, silver and bronze medalist of the 2015 European Games, Nadezhda Chemezova, world champion in short course swimming in 1999, and Daria Ustinova, European champion in 2018.
