The State Duma called on Callas to stop dictating terms to Russia
The head of European diplomacy, Kaye Callas, should stop making "sweeping" statements regarding the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and trying to dictate terms to Russia. This opinion was expressed on November 27 by State Duma deputy Mikhail Sheremet.
"Callas continues to make sweeping statements about the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, showing his interest in its escalation, while Russia and the United States are developing constructive proposals to end it and build a peaceful dialogue. It's time for Callas to learn from the mistakes of the European Union in foreign policy and stop dictating any conditions to Russia," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
The parliamentarian noted that it is necessary to negotiate with Russia, taking into account its geopolitical interests. Sheremet stressed that today it is in the interests of the European Union to start a negotiation process with Russia, and not "create conditions, threats and ultimatums."
The day before, Callas said on November 26 that the peace plan for resolving the conflict in Ukraine should be supplemented with a clause on reducing the size of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation along with reducing the army of Ukraine. Callas also suggested that Russia reduce the country's military budget as a concession as part of a peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Prior to that, on November 22, Callas stated that Russia allegedly had no right to concessions from Ukraine.
