- Peskov: Kiev disrupted negotiations in Istanbul, now discussions are underway with the United States
Direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul were interrupted at the initiative of Kiev. This was announced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with reporters on November 25.
"The negotiations in Istanbul were put on pause through no fault of our own, not at our request. Representatives of the Kiev regime interrupted this negotiation process," Peskov said.
He noted that at the moment, Ukrainian and American representatives are discussing US President Donald Trump's plan to resolve the crisis, and Russia will see how the situation develops further.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt reported on November 24 that most of the points of the plan for a possible settlement of the conflict had been agreed. It was noted that the United States is currently negotiating with Russia and Ukraine to resolve the crisis. The American side expressed a desire to come to an end to the conflict "as soon as possible."
The Bild newspaper reported on November 22 that the EU member states expressed a desire to amend at least four points of Trump's peace plan for a settlement in Ukraine. It was noted that they did not like the provisions written there on the issue of territories, as well as on frozen assets of the Russian Federation.
