Politico has learned of Rubio's refusal to meet with Callas on the conflict in Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio refuses to hold bilateral meetings with the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Callas, amid her strained relations with the administration of American leader Donald Trump. This was reported on November 25 by the newspaper Politico, citing sources in diplomatic circles.

"Callas is out of the spotlight given her sometimes difficult relationship with the Trump administration... Even U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is one of the most pro—European members of Trump's senior officials team, refuses to hold bilateral meetings with Callas," the article says.

However, one of the sources added that Kallas continues to play the role of "bad cop" behind the scenes, exerting influence on the member states of the European Union (EU).

The Bild newspaper reported on November 22 that the EU member states expressed a desire to amend at least four points of Trump's peace plan for a settlement in Ukraine. The Washington Post reported on November 23 that European leaders had developed an alternative proposal for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine. As explained in the publication, it provides for the waiver of restrictions for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the postponement of the resolution of territorial issues for the period after the ceasefire.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on November 21 that there was a shrinking space for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to make a decision. On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow had received a plan from Washington, which, according to him, could be used "as the basis for a final peaceful settlement."
