Rubio: on Monday, the United States will continue to work on agreeing on peace terms
The United States will continue working on a peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine on Monday. This was announced on November 23 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"We will continue to work," Rubio said at a press conference, answering a question about what would happen after the Geneva talks with representatives of Europe and Ukraine.
According to the Secretary of State, Moscow has yet to officially outline its position on the proposed plan. He stressed that Washington expects to coordinate the document in the near future and continues to work on its final version.
As Rubio noted, the discussion concerns 26-28 points, depending on the wording of the document, which "continues to evolve." During the negotiations, the American delegation focused on clarifying the disputed elements and agreeing on positions on a number of key issues.
The Secretary of State added that the parties were able to make significant progress in working on the text and reduce the list of disagreements.
On November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow had received a 28-point plan from Washington, which, according to him, could be used "as the basis for a final peaceful settlement." Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the decision-making space for Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky is shrinking. According to him, the rejection of a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis and the continuation of a special military operation (SVO) are "senseless and dangerous" for Ukraine.
Rubio also called the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine in Geneva the most productive of all time on November 23. He clarified that it is too early to make public the results of the negotiations on Ukraine — discussions are still underway, and changes may be made to the text itself in the coming days.
