The Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Concord, North Carolina (USA) was interrupted due to gunfire. The incident occurred on November 21 at about 19:30 local time (03:30, November 22, Moscow time). This was announced on November 22 by the press service of the local authorities on the social network Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by the Meta corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
"Concord Police are actively investigating a shooting that occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Union Street C, near the intersection with Avenue Corban," the statement said.
After the shooting, the rest of the event was canceled, and the audience was asked to leave the city center immediately.
As a result of the incident, four people received gunshot wounds. Three of them are in critical condition, all of them are hospitalized.
The shooter is currently being sought, the press service added.
The Associated Press (AP) reported on November 15 that four police officers were injured in a shootout in the US state of Kansas when they responded to a call with a report of domestic violence. It is noted that the guards arrived at a private house in rural areas.
