The Ukrainian elite is nervous about the extension of the business trip of the head of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov. This was reported on November 19 by the Berliner Zeitung newspaper.

"Rustem Umerov remains abroad. His prolonged absence causes nervousness among the Kiev elite," the article says.

The publication emphasizes that the political crisis against the background of the corruption scandal in Ukraine has acquired an "explosive dimension." Rumors about Umerov's possible involvement in the corruption scandal are being actively discussed in the Ukrainian public sphere.

On November 10, NABU revealed a money laundering scheme in the country's energy sector, through which about $100 million passed. In the course of the corruption case in the energy sector, seven people were charged, including businessman Timur Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme). On November 15, a protest rally was held in Kiev against the background of the corruption scandal case, more than 100 people joined the rally.

Later, on November 17, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexei Goncharenko (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist) reported that Umerov, amid reports of possible involvement in the corruption scheme of businessman Timur Mindich, did not arrive home on the previously scheduled dates and extended his business trip until November 19.
