The trade turnover between Russia and India decreased slightly due to the sanctions. This was announced on November 20 by Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov.

"Given the changing global trade environment and the tightening of sanctions pressure from Western countries, there has been a slight decrease in bilateral trade this year," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $43.5 billion in the period from January to August 2025. In addition, Russian exports reached $40.6 billion over the period.

The Ambassador also added that the signing of a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and India will contribute to the expansion of mutual trade.

Earlier, on November 18, Putin held a separate bilateral meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar in the Kremlin. The meeting took place in the Executive Office of the Senate Palace in the Kremlin.
