The Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia (FRiO) has asked to eliminate inequalities in the rules of operation of public catering and retail chains selling ready meals. The President of the Federation, Igor Bukharov, sent a corresponding letter in November to the chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, RBC reported on November 19, although the State Duma noted that the letter had not yet been received.

It is clarified that Bukharov expressed concern about the situation when retail chains are actively developing sales of "ready-made food." However, such outlets are subject to less stringent requirements than catering establishments.

"We are convinced that the 'ready meals' sold in the sales halls are essentially catering products," the letter says.

According to the authors of the appeal, these products are cheaper for customers not only due to the scale of the business, but also due to the lack of requirements for equipment, premises and processes, which creates unequal conditions for doing business.
