Moscow's harsh reaction to the rhetoric of Japan's new leadership has sent a clear signal to Tokyo amid tensions between Japan and its neighbors. This is reported by the Chinese portal Sohu.

It is noted that Russia's response to Tokyo's rhetoric on the Kuril Islands came less than a day after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's statements about the possible use of self-defense forces in the event of Beijing's attempt to establish control over Taiwan. At the same time, a discussion broke out in Japan itself due to the statement of the Minister of Okinawa and Northern Territories, Hitoshi Kikawada, which was interpreted as recognition of the Kuril Islands as a foreign territory.

Against the background of these statements, Russia imposed an indefinite ban on 30 Japanese citizens from entering the country. The list includes representatives of political circles, the media and the educational community, who are considered in Moscow to be involved in shaping the anti-Russian agenda.

Earlier, on November 11, it was reported that Russia had indefinitely banned entry to 30 Japanese citizens.
