Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, amid reports of possible involvement in the corruption scheme of businessman Timur Mindich, did not arrive home on the previously scheduled dates and extended his business trip. This was announced on November 17 by Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexei Goncharenko (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist).

He stressed that Umerov's business trip was supposed to end on Sunday, November 16.

"He extended it until November 19th. Rustem, well, we are waiting," Goncharenko wrote on his Telegram channel.

On the same day, the Clash Report portal reported that Umerov allegedly refused to return to Ukraine amid a corruption scandal. According to the portal, the politician has already personally informed the president of the country, Vladimir Zelensky, about his decision. At the same time, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC denied this report.

On November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) revealed a money laundering scheme in the country's energy sector, through which about $100 million passed. In the course of the corruption case in the energy sector, seven people were charged, including businessman Timur Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme). On November 15, a protest rally was held in Kiev against the background of the corruption scandal case, more than 100 people joined the rally.
