It is necessary to preserve the unity of Belarus and Russia in the face of external pressure. This was stated on November 17 by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with Governor of the Rostov region Yuri Slyusar.

"The pressure from outside is enormous. <...> Therefore, we need to hold our own. Belarus and Russia have been together and will be together. No one can break our unity, no matter how much someone wants to," BelTA quoted the Belarusian leader as saying.

The head of Belarus stressed that the basis of cooperation should be economics, not political agitation. He announced his readiness to offer the Rostov region goods and services on better terms than those of foreign partners.

Lukashenko also noted the development of transport links between the two countries, including an increase in the number of Lastochka trains between Moscow and Minsk. According to him, the Belarusian-Russian cooperation receives full support from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On November 15, Putin and Lukashenko discussed bilateral cooperation and topical issues during a telephone conversation. During the dialogue, the leaders touched upon issues of defense, security and the construction of a new power unit at the Belarusian NPP in Ostrovets. In addition, the presidents of the two countries discussed the situation on the border of Belarus.
