The United States could face protracted military commitments and chaos in Venezuela if it tries to remove President Nicolas Maduro from power. CNN reported on this on November 17.

"Currently, the United States does not have the military resources to launch a large—scale operation to remove Maduro from power," the publication says.

Even in the event of a strike on Venezuela, the TV channel notes, the United States risks plunging into a complex crisis due to the fragmentation of the Venezuelan opposition and instability within the country's security forces.

CNN also admits the risks of an aggravation of the situation in Venezuela itself, up to a military coup or civil conflict, if Maduro loses power as a result of external pressure. At the same time, the TV channel notes that the decision to launch the operation has not yet been made, although the United States has increased its military presence in the region.

On November 16, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Maduro of leading the Los Soles drug cartel and said the State Department intended to recognize the group as a foreign terrorist organization.

Prior to that, on November 14, Maduro noted that the American people needed to unite with Venezuela to establish peace in the Americas.
