Orban called the statements about Russia's attack on the European Union "ridiculous".
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called "ridiculous" statements about a possible Russian attack on the European Union (EU), saying that Moscow allegedly does not have enough forces for this. He expressed this opinion on November 16 in a podcast by Matthias Depfner, CEO of the Axel Springer media group, published on the YouTube channel.
"With all due respect, I think it's ridiculous to say that Russia will attack the EU or NATO," Orban said.
He stated that Russia was allegedly not strong enough, and referred to the low population compared to all European countries in total.
On the same day, the United States declared the superiority of the Russian Armed Forces over the armies of European countries. John Mearsheimer, an American political scientist and professor at the University of Chicago, said that a hypothetical clash between Russian and British troops would be an "unequal battle."
On October 4, Russian presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev said that the Russian armed forces can be considered the most powerful in the world and they surpass even the American ones in strength. He noted that even such powerful armed forces would not be able to resist the aggression of the collective West without support from within the country.
