Politico reported on Kiev's attempts to calm the West after the corruption scandal
Senior Ukrainian officials are trying to reassure Western partners amid the corruption scandal involving businessman Timur Mindich. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on November 15.
According to the newspaper, as soon as the situation began to deteriorate rapidly, the Ukrainian authorities announced a number of high-profile resignations in the government and personnel changes in state-owned energy companies. Thus, Kiev seeks to demonstrate to its allies that it is able to quickly restore order within the governing structures.
"We must act quickly and decisively... The government's task is to show the Ukrainian society and partners that we will not tolerate corruption under any circumstances and will respond quickly to any facts of it," Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko told Politico.
