Moscow surgeons removed more than 100 kidney stones from the patient
Doctors at Buyanov Hospital in Moscow performed surgery on a 51-year-old patient, removing several hundred stones from both kidneys. This was announced on November 14 in the press service of the Moscow Department of Health on the Telergam channel.
It is specified that numerous stones were detected in the patient during a routine medical examination. The discovery was unexpected because the woman did not complain of characteristic pain or other symptoms that could indicate a malfunction of the kidneys. So, the reason for the formation of stones was an anatomical feature.
"A significant role was played by the narrowing (stricture) at the exit from the kidney into the ureter. Because of it, the outflow of urine slowed down and favorable conditions were created for the formation of a large number of stones. The stones exerted pressure on the inner walls of the kidney cavity with their volume and mass," said Ibragim Mamaev, head of the urology department at the hospital.
Mamaev stressed that in the future, the patient could be at risk of deterioration of organ function, including the risk of kidney failure and the likelihood of perforation.
Earlier, on July 28, Artur Bogatyrev, a urologist and andrologist at the SM Clinic Center for Reproductive Health, said that kidney diseases can develop at first without obvious symptoms, and some signs may resemble cystitis. Bogatyrev listed difficulties with urination, swelling on the face and legs, fever and spikes in blood pressure among possible symptoms.
