Moscow will purchase 100 new electric buses by the end of the year
Another 100 modern Russian-made electric buses will be purchased for Moscow. They will gradually replace buses on the capital's routes. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport, the Moscow Department of Transport reported on its Telegram channel on November 12.
Currently, the capital's routes are served by more than 2,660 electric buses. Liksutov noted that Moscow remains the leader among European cities in terms of the number of electric vehicles.
By the end of June this year, the number of trips by electric buses on weekdays per day reached 1 million (30% more than last year), and the total number of trips on them exceeded 745 million since 2018.
Electric buses are already running on more than 250 routes in the capital. This is more than 25% of all ground transport routes in the city. Since the beginning of the year, more than 300 eco-friendly vehicles have been delivered to Mosgortrans' operating sites. By 2030, the authorities of the capital plan to transfer over 80% of the Mosgortrans fleet to electric buses.
Earlier, on October 23, it was reported that the traffic patterns of four bus and electric bus routes will change from October 25: transport will move closer to metro stations and social facilities in Moscow.
