Mishustin pointed to the high growth rates of the IT industry in Russia

The Russian IT industry has demonstrated record growth rates and holds a leading position among all major sectors of the economy in key indicators over the past five years. This was announced on November 12 by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, speaking at the First Russian Forum "Digital Solutions".

"[The IT industry] currently holds a leading position in terms of growth rates of key indicators over five years among all major industries. Let me remind you that its contribution to the gross domestic product has almost doubled over such a period and now stands at 2.4%," he said.

Mishustin noted that Russian software manufacturers have successfully occupied the niches vacated after the departure of foreign companies. According to him, more in-demand and competitive IT products have been produced in the country, and demand for them continues to grow.

The head of government paid special attention to the development of domestic basic software. Over the past three years, sales of Russian system software, including operating systems, office software, and virtualization platforms, have doubled.

Mishustin stressed that the government continues its policy of multiplying the use of national software. Domestic solutions receive preferences in public procurement and are implemented at critical information infrastructure facilities.

"The strategic objective is to multiply the use of national software in the main areas. <...> And we continue to move towards this goal," he concluded.
