Trump demanded that air traffic controllers return to work due to the shutdown
On November 10, US President Donald Trump, amid progress towards completing the shutdown (government shutdown), demanded the immediate return to work of all air traffic controllers in the country, promising bonuses to loyal employees and layoffs without payments to protesters.
"All air traffic controllers should return to work now. Anyone who does not do this will be heavily "fined," he wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.
The US president expressed dissatisfaction with the dispatchers who "complained and took time off" during the shutdown, promising them negative ratings and dismissal without severance payments. Trump called those who "did not take a single day off" great patriots and promised such workers bonuses of $10,000.
The American leader also criticized the previous US administration for spending on outdated equipment, saying that "they had no idea what they were doing." Trump, in turn, described the shutdown in the United States as "an invention of the Democrats."
Earlier in the day, Reuters reported that more than 10,000 flights were delayed in the United States due to the shutdown. It was noted that the government shutdown has caused a serious shortage of air traffic controllers and other federal employees who have not been paid for weeks.
Before that, on November 9, CNN reported that the US Senate had approved the final shutdown bill in the country. According to the TV channel, this document has received support from 60 senators, whose votes allow its further consideration. NBS News reported on November 5 that the shutdown, which began at midnight on October 1, became the longest in U.S. history.
