Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol have stopped the channel of illegal migration on the territory of the peninsula. The agency announced this on November 10.

According to the investigation, two residents of the Bakhchisarai district organized the stay of foreign citizens who sought to find work illegally in Crimea. The accomplices found housing for the migrants and provided them with work at construction sites in the Saki and Belogorsky districts, despite the lack of necessary documents to work in Russia.

"The investigative Department of the FSB has opened a criminal case against these individuals on the grounds of a crime under paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of the illegal stay of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement")," the report says.

The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
