The number of Russian tourist trips to China has reached its maximum in 13 years
The number of tourist trips of Russians to China for the period from July to September of this year reached 383 thousand. This is the maximum in 13 years. This was confirmed on November 9 by data from the Unified Interdepartmental Information and Statistical System (EMISS).
According to the results of a study reviewed by RIA Novosti, approximately 383,000 tourists from Russia visited China in the third quarter, which is 13% more than in the second quarter. In addition, this figure is also almost a quarter higher than the same period last year.
It is noted that such high values were last recorded in the third quarter of 2012. At that time, 407.6 thousand Russians visited China.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on September 2 that from September 15, China will introduce a visa-free regime for Russian citizens with a regular passport for up to 30 days. According to him, these measures have been introduced to further facilitate the travel of citizens of China and other countries.
Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that China's decision to cancel visas for Russians was a pleasant surprise. According to him, the consequences of this decision will be "the most positive." Putin clarified that the foundation of interstate relations is being created primarily at the human level.
