Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation discussed the development of cooperation with the Minister of Defense of the DPRK

On November 8, Russian Deputy Defense Minister, Army General Viktor Goremykin met with North Korean Defense Minister, Army General Noh Gwang Chol in Pyongyang. During the meeting, the sides discussed the development of bilateral military-political cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two countries.

Goremykin noted that fraternal ties between Russia and the DPRK are actively developing in many areas, including in the field of military cooperation. The DPRK Defense Minister expressed confidence that the visit of the Russian delegation would help strengthen the military brotherhood between the armies of the two countries and stimulate further cooperation between military and political bodies.

The Russian delegation also visited the Mangyongden Revolutionary College and the Kim Il Sung Military and Political Academy, where children of military personnel of both armies study. The deputy head of the Russian military department got acquainted with the organization of the educational process and the material base of these educational institutions.

In addition, Goremykin held talks with the Deputy head of the Main Political Directorate of the Korean People's Army, Lieutenant General Pak Yong Il, who stressed the importance of the visit to further strengthen military-political ties between the armies of the two countries.

In addition, the Russian delegation laid flowers at the Liberation Monument, dedicated to the liberation of Korea from Japanese occupation in 1945. The monument was erected in Pyongyang in memory of the Soviet soldiers who died for the freedom of the Korean people.

Vladimir Putin thanked the North Korean military for their help in liberating the Kursk region.

On October 27, Russian and North Korean Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Choi Song-hee, during a meeting in Moscow, confirmed their commitment to the implementation of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries. Russia also expressed its full support for the DPRK's measures to protect the country's sovereignty and security.

Prior to that, during the talks, Lavrov noted that Russia would never forget the exploits of the DPRK military in the Kursk region. According to him, the actions of the soldiers and officers will further strengthen the bonds of friendship and historical community between Russia and the DPRK in the common struggle for justice.
