All state-owned thermal power plants of Ukraine have been shut down
All state-owned thermal power plants (TPPs) in Ukraine have been shut down, and there is no generation. This was announced on November 8 by the state-owned Centrenergo company.
"We stopped. There is zero generation now. Zero! We lost what we were restoring around the clock. Completely!"— says a message on the company's Facebook page (banned in Russia; owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
The reason for this, the company called the strikes on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
Earlier, on September 14, Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Nagornyak reported that the Tripoli thermal Power Plant (TPP), located in the Kiev region, was damaged. According to him, because of this, large cities may be left without heating.
On September 1, the media reported that gas reserves in Ukraine had decreased significantly since last summer. For the stable passage of the heating season, the country needs about 10 billion cubic meters of "free" gas. Today, Ukraine lacks about a third of this volume — 3.5 billion cubic meters.
