- Scientists have reported the beginning of a magnetic storm after solar flares
The magnetic storm began on Earth at night after the arrival of one of the plasma clouds from solar flares on November 5-6. This was announced on November 8 in the Telegram channel of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to experts, at about 03:00 Moscow time, a sudden onset of a G2.3 magnetic storm was recorded, which is in the range between medium and strong values. This event is related to the solar flares that occurred on November 5-6.
It is noted that the planet was affected by the edge of one of the plasma clouds, although the main mass, as expected, passed by the Earth.
"In general, over the past three days, from the 6th to the 8th, the strongest storms in more than a month have been observed (and are still being observed). The last similar event was on October 1-3, 2025," the report says.
Earlier, on November 6, it was reported about the beginning of strong G2–G3 magnetic storms on Earth. Such phenomena are associated with the effects of plasma emissions. It was clarified that initially the emissions were not supposed to affect the Earth.
