Mistakes in intonation, incorrect use of slang words, and pauses between remarks may indicate that the other person's speech on the phone is artificially created. This was announced on November 6 by Maria Zueva, head of the Phonoscopic Examinations Department at the Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow.

"Natural speech is characterized by a direct response to the remarks of the interlocutor. If there is any pause between the lines, when exactly is the artificial speech created. A very striking sign is the correct intonation. Artificial intelligence often does not handle this task correctly," she said at the Rossiya Segodnya international multimedia press center, dedicated to the Day of the Law Enforcement Officer, which is celebrated on November 10. Her words are quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency.

According to the expert, artificial intelligence (AI) also often makes inaccuracies when using colloquial and slang expressions.

Zueva clarified that the field of computer processing and modeling of audio signals is actively developing today. According to her, scientific research is underway at the Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia aimed at identifying signs of synthesized speech and identifying fake voice and text files.

Earlier, on November 3, the Department for combating the illegal use of information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Russian Interior Ministry reported that the use of child mode and disabling personalized responses help make the use of voice assistants and smart speakers by children safer. The agency noted that voice assistants actively collect data on user preferences to create a profile and display targeted advertising.
