On November 19, the European Commission (EC) will present a new plan aimed at creating an efficient transport system for the movement of troops, military equipment and ammunition within the European Union (EU). This was announced on November 5 by the Onet portal.

"The European Commission's goal is to create a military mobility zone in the EU, which officials call the "military Schengen." The concept involves the harmonization of rules and procedures and the creation of a network of land corridors, seaports and airports, which will allow for the rapid and effective deployment of troops in crisis situations," the material says.

It is noted that the EU's transport infrastructure currently does not meet the requirements for the movement of heavy military equipment, which leads to serious logistical problems. As part of the new plan, the EC intends to propose a solution to the problem of cross-border military transportation, the publication points out.

Bloomberg reported on October 15 that the EU plans to propose the launch of joint drone and air defense (air defense) projects in the coming months as part of an ambitious five-year rearmament plan. The main goal of this plan is to increase Europe's combat capability by 2030. As part of the new initiative, the EC proposes to review the military planning and procurement system.
