At the State Academic Theater named after Yevgenia Vakhtangova held a farewell ceremony with Honored Artist of Russia Anatoly Menshchikov. Footage of the ceremony on November 3 is published by Izvestia.

Colleagues, friends and fans of his work came to say goodbye to the actor. The ceremony lasted about two hours and was attended by dozens of people, including the director of the theater. Vakhtangova is Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Kirill Krok, chief director Anatoly Shulev and others.

People's Artist of the Russian Federation Evgeny Knyazev called Menshchikov an example of dedication to the theater. According to him, the actor never refused roles and went on stage under any circumstances.

"It's very sad and painful. Moreover, this is our generation, the generation with whom we lived, were friends, and communicated," the artist noted.

Menshchikov died on October 30 at the age of 76. According to the press service of the Vakhtangov Theater, the actor devoted almost half a century to serving the stage and last appeared on the stage on May 19, 2025 in the play "Smile upon Us, Lord." Menshchikov was remembered for his supporting roles. He took part in such films as "Walking in Torment", "Put in a word about the poor Hussar", the series "Capercaillie" and others.

According to Vladimir Zaitsev, a friend of the actor from the series "Glukhar" Anatoly Menshchikov, a few months before his death, the Honored Artist of Russia suffered two strokes. In the summer, Menshchikov was admitted to the hospital, after which he underwent rehabilitation, but his condition worsened — during this time he suffered two strokes due to heart failure.
