In the US state of Mississippi, resident Jessica Bond Ferguson, fearing for the lives of her children, shot a monkey infected with hepatitis and coronavirus. This was reported by the Associated Press on November 3.

The incident occurred near Ferguson's home when her 16-year-old son noticed the animal in the yard. The woman knew that monkeys that escaped from laboratory trucks could carry dangerous viruses. As a result, she decided to shoot the animal from a distance of about 18 meters.

"I did what any other mother would do to protect her children," Jessica said.

Earlier, on October 22, in Los Angeles, a wild American black bear made its way to Sequoia Park Zoo to look at other bears in captivity. It is clarified that immediately after the discovery, zoo staff took measures: rapid reaction forces were sent to the site to assess and resolve the situation.
