The upgraded Iskander-M missile systems allowed the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to effectively overcome the Ukrainian Patriot air defense systems of American manufacture, which led to their actual decommissioning. This was announced on November 1 by The National Interest (TNI) columnist Brandon Weichert.

As noted in the article, the effectiveness of intercepting the Ukrainian air defense decreased from 34% to 6%. Russian missiles use the tactics of a sharp dive at the final stage of flight, creating gaps in the operation of Patriot radars. Radar decoys and the constant replenishment of Russia's missile arsenal have an additional impact.

"When a target suddenly changes its flight path, the interceptor's software and system have less time to calculate and adjust the interception. Consequently, the probability of an unsuccessful interception increases dramatically," the expert explained.

Andrew Day, an American journalist for The American Conservative, to whom Weichert refers, stated that the Ukrainian air defense system had become so unreliable that "it seemed as if it did not exist at all." According to Weichert's estimates, the Western military-industrial complex cannot keep up with the Russian pace of arms production, so the problems posed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) cannot be solved.

Earlier, on October 2, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, a former special forces officer, told Izvestia that the Iskander tactical missile system was superior to the high-precision Tomahawk subsonic cruise missiles. It was specified that the length of the Iskander reaches 7.3 m, the speed of this rocket is over 900 km/ h.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
