- The court seized property worth more than 1 billion rubles from the ex-mayor of Vladivostok.
The Leninsky District Court of Vladivostok has decided to withdraw assets of the former mayor of the city, Vladimir Nikolaev, and his co-defendants worth about 1 billion rubles to the income of the Russian Federation. This was reported on October 31 in the joint press service of the judicial system of Primorsky Krai.
"The court in Vladivostok turned the assets of the ex-mayor of Vladivostok to the income of the Russian Federation for 1 billion rubles," TASS cites the text of the message.
It is specified that this is the second claim satisfied by the court in the case of the seizure of Nikolaev's assets. In July of this year, the court recovered over 590 million rubles from Nikolaev's family. At that time, 821 real estate objects became the property of the Russian Federation, including the property complex of the Amur Bay sanatorium, the Magnum apart-hotel and 12 land plots.
Vladimir Nikolaev served as head of the Vladivostok City Administration from 2004 to 2008 and owned a number of commercial enterprises in the region. In February 2007, the Primorsky Krai Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case against him on the facts of abuse and abuse of office.
The investigation found that the official used the funds of the city budget to pay for personal protection and police escort of his car, and also illegally allocated four land plots to private individuals. The damage to the city budget was estimated at about 17 million rubles.
In December 2007, the court found Nikolayev guilty and sentenced him to four years and six months of probation.
Earlier, on September 22, Izvestia learned that the Tverskoy Court of Moscow had converted into state revenue a group of coastal companies Vostokcement and Renaissance worth 79 billion rubles, which belong to the relatives of Igor Pushkarev, ex-mayor of Vladivostok, who was convicted of corruption and went on a special military operation. The prosecutor stated that the accused initially intended to develop the city's road infrastructure, but began to abuse his authority. According to the investigation, he restricted competition in the road sector, as a result of which the companies under his control began to set prices that were too high compared to the average market prices.
