On October 31, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said at the 85th meeting of the Council of CIS Defense Ministers in Alma Ata that Russian-Kazakh military cooperation plays a crucial role in maintaining stability in the Central Asian region.
"Russian-Kazakh military cooperation is a key factor in maintaining stability in Central Asia. We appreciate the high level of relations achieved both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the multilateral structures of the CSTO, the CIS and the SCO," he said.
According to Belousov, the Russian Ministry of Defense also assists Kazakhstan in improving the armed forces and actively shares its combat experience.
"We continue to train your military personnel in Russian military educational institutions. Our cooperation is dynamically developing in almost all areas of activity. We are ready to increase it further," the Russian Defense Minister said.
Earlier in the day, Kazakh Defense Minister Dauren Kosanov and Belousov held talks in Alma Ata as part of the 85th meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS countries. Following the talks, a military cooperation Plan was signed between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the defense ministries of Russia and Belarus for 2026.
