St. Petersburg reggae artist Dr.I-Bolit has passed away.
Reggae musician Andrey Kunitsyn, better known under the pseudonyms Dr.I-Bolit, Dr.I-Bol and Ras Simeon, died in St. Petersburg on October 26. This was announced on the artist's official page on the VKontakte social network.
The causes of the musician's death have not been disclosed. His farewell will take place on October 31 at the St. Petersburg Crematorium at 11:00 Moscow time.
Kunitsyn began his musical career in the early 1990s, when he became interested in ska and reggae. At that time, he became a member of Russia's first independent music club, Tam-Tam, where he organized his band Rainbow Army Band. The musician also participated in the projects Dr.I-Bolit & Rainbow Army Band, Tribal Roots, DubTV, DJahSema, Rasta Orchestra, Ras Orchestra Family, DiaPositive and The Golden Mean (Dr.I-Bolit PROJECT).
In addition, Kunitsyn worked with such groups as Avia, Strange Games and Auctioneer. He was one of the few Russian performers who wrote songs in Patois, the Jamaican dialect of English.
