The statements of US President Donald Trump about the nuclear weapons test should be perceived as a maneuver to strengthen the negotiating position of the United States and pressure on Russia and China. This was stated by political scientist and Americanist Malek Dudakov in an interview on October 30.

"The Trump administration is trying to put pressure not only on Russia, but also on China in the first place. Therefore, Trump has repeatedly said in his statements that he is concerned about how Russia and China are currently competing with the United States in the nuclear field. According to Dudakov, the American nuclear triad is not in the best condition right now. Hundreds of billions of dollars will be needed to upgrade it, but due to the crisis, Congress is not allocating the necessary funds.

The political scientist noted that because of this, Trump is aware of the weakening of his negotiating position. Therefore, he is trying to strengthen the influence of the United States with loud statements.

On the same day, Trump said that the United States and Russia were negotiating on nuclear disarmament, adding that if successful, China could join the process.
