Displaying symbols associated with Satanism (the International Satanism Movement is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) as part of Halloween celebrations can lead to administrative penalties in Russia. Lawyer Oleg Zernov told about it on October 30.

"Propaganda or public display of symbols of movements and organizations banned in the Russian Federation entails liability under Article 20.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation, Satanism is no exception here. In this regard, when using outfits and other Halloween paraphernalia, it is better to avoid symbols that can be associated with Satanism, for example, pentagrams," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Zernov stressed that fines from 1 to 2 thousand rubles or administrative arrest for up to 15 days are provided for such offenses.

However, in his opinion, more abstract symbols, such as pumpkins or bats, do not fall under the responsibility.

On October 22, it was reported that residents of Khakassia sharply criticized Halloween decorations in the form of a corpse upside down in a children's area. According to them, the installation was placed on the way to the game room in the entertainment center for preschoolers.

Prior to that, on October 3, it was reported that a court in Pskov had decided to destroy the "Satanic Bible" (recognized as extremist in Russia and banned from distribution), which a Russian citizen was trying to import into Russia from Estonia. It was clarified that the book was found by customs officers when checking the luggage of a man who crossed the border between Estonia and Russia.
