A resident of the Leningrad Region who was involved in the arson of a diesel locomotive at the Oranienbaum-1 station was detained in St. Petersburg. This was announced on October 28 in the press service of the transport department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Northwestern Federal District.
"A 22-year-old resident of the Leningrad region, being near the railway station Oranienbaum-1 in the Petrodvorets district of St. Petersburg, set fire to the cabin of a shunting locomotive. To do this, he used a flammable liquid," the department's Telegram channel says.
It was established that the illegal action was committed according to the instructions of an unidentified supervisor received through a messenger.
The operation to detain the suspect was carried out with the forceful support of the riot police "Baltika" Rosgvardiya. The sanction of the incriminated article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 20 years.
Operational measures are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
