A criminal case has been opened into the deaths of two girls when they were hit by a car in the city of Revda, Sverdlovsk region. This was announced on October 27 by the Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.

"The investigative department for the city of Revda of the SU IC of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region has opened a criminal case into a traffic accident that killed two minors," the department's Telegram channel said.

It is specified that the criminal case was initiated under Part 6 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the death of two people"). The sanction of this article provides for up to 15 years of imprisonment for the driver.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, investigators examined the scene. Now they are interrogating the witnesses of the accident and identifying the injured children.

The deaths of two girls in an accident in Revda were reported earlier in the day. The third victim was hospitalized in serious condition. As noted in the regional State Traffic Inspectorate, the driver of the Lada car lost control and hit three girls who were on the sidewalk at that moment and were waiting for the green light.
